Financial Aid

Christopher Newport University makes every effort to assure that no qualified student is denied the opportunity to attend college because of a lack of funds. CNU requires that you submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Applying for Financial Aid

You must apply for financial aid each academic year.  To apply for financial aid at Christopher Newport University, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The FAFSA cannot be completed until January 1 preceding the academic year.

CNU, like many schools, has a priority filing date.  Our priority filing date is March 1.  Admitted students who complete their FAFSA and have the results sent to CNU by March 1 will be considered for all types of financial aid available.  Applications are accepted and encouraged after this date, but funding may be limited.

There are other requirements students must meet in order to be eligible for financial aid.  Students and their parents are encouraged to review all of the information available on this website, and to contact a counselor if they have any questions.

Available Financial Aid

Christopher Newport University offers a variety of financial aid programs to help students and their parents pay for college.  Some programs, coordinated by other offices, are also available.

The aid programs available at CNU are as follows:
